About me

I was born and raised and still live in Dublin, Ireland. My late husband passed away in 2013 and since then I have shared my home with my dachshund, Bailey.

I have three beautiful granddaughters - 6 year old twins, Martha and Zara and their 5 year old sister, Eve.

Semi-retirement some years ago gave me the opportunity to fulfil a long-held ambition to go to college as a mature student and I have just completed a BA (Hons) degree in Theology by distance learning. My Toastmasters experience came in very useful when writing assignments. As a toastmaster since 2002, I have written and delivered many speeches and this meant I understood the importance of a strong, engaging opening, of staying on message, of making my points in a logical manner and of rounding off my assignment with a conclusion summing up my message and harking back to the opening.

I love my Irish culture, especially its rich language, traditional music and dance. For relaxation I enjoy walking and reading and I regularly attend Irish set dancing sessions and ceilidhs.

My business background has mostly been in the legal profession, with its complex rules and highest standards of probity, under the direction of the Law Society. For 25 years I was Accounts Executive and Legal Executive in the areas of conveyancing and probate. I understand how to maintain an organisation's financial stability and how to read and dissect complex documents. In addition, I am steeped in the culture and principles of Toastmasters. I know what works and what needs improving. That's why I am standing.

VISION

One of my proudest moments in Toastmasters was carrying the Irish flag as incoming D71 Director at the Parade of Flags in Chicago in August 2018.
